Why Choose Me for Mattress, Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning in Melbourne?

I've spent around 18 years cleaning mattresses, carpets and upholstered furniture across Melbourne. I personally answer your enquiries, quote your job and carry out the cleaning.

I'm proud of the results I've achieved, but I'm just as proud of the customers who've trusted me for many years. Here's how my business began, how I work and what I think you should know before booking a cleaner.

Where it all started

From Melbourne tram driver to specialist cleaner

My journey into cleaning began while I was driving trams in Melbourne. I'd previously run a couple of businesses and was looking for something I could build for the long term.

My wife, a schoolteacher, mentioned how many children seemed to struggle with asthma, hay fever and allergies. That conversation sparked my interest in dust mites, bedding hygiene and professional mattress cleaning.

I travelled to Queensland for training with Health Protect International and the Healthy Breathing Centre. I then started the business part-time while continuing to drive trams—even teaching myself how to build a website along the way.

At first, mattress hygiene was my main focus. But customers soon began calling about urine, blood, perspiration and pet stains. I learned through training, extensive hands-on work and conversations with specialist suppliers how to approach these very different problems.

Carpet and upholstery cleaning grew alongside mattress cleaning, and today I'm happy to take on all three throughout greater Melbourne.

My original specialty

Mattress cleaning, dust-mite concerns and difficult stains

Mattress cleaning is where my business began, and it's still a large part of my day-to-day work. I regularly deal with bedwetting, urine odours, blood, perspiration, pet accidents and general mattress hygiene.

01 · Inspect

Understand the problem

I ask about the age and condition of the mattress, the stain, and anything already used on it. Previous home treatments can affect what is safe or realistic.

02 · Choose

Use suitable equipment

I've selected dedicated mattress equipment, with careful attention to HEPA-filtered dust removal, stain treatment and effective moisture extraction.

03 · Explain

Set realistic expectations

Fresh stains often respond better than old ones. Some marks remain permanent. I would rather discuss the likely outcome before cleaning than promise too much.

Why I prioritise filtration and drying

My original training concentrated on dust mites and allergen-containing particles. I use HEPA-filtered equipment as part of my approach to collecting fine dust rather than simply disturbing it.

For cleaning and stain treatment, I favour controlled moisture and repeated extraction where appropriate. I also explain how fans, airflow and Melbourne's changing weather affect drying.

Some customers prefer a process without optional fragrances or additional sanitising treatments. I can discuss that with you and explain what the chosen method can and cannot achieve.

Urgent mattress cleaning after bedwetting

If your child has wet the bed overnight, I understand that getting the mattress back into use is often urgent. I'll try to offer a morning appointment when possible so it has more time to dry, particularly in winter. Same-day attendance and drying by bedtime depend on availability, mattress construction and conditions—neither is guaranteed.

If you need help urgently, call me or message me on WhatsApp.

Low-moisture expertise

Why I often choose encapsulation for carpet cleaning

Carpet cleaning came into my business alongside mattress cleaning. I became particularly interested in low-moisture encapsulation because of its practical cleaning and drying advantages.

I begin by thoroughly vacuuming with my Kirby equipment to remove as much dry dust and soil as practical. Then I use an encapsulation cleaning solution and an oscillating machine fitted with a microfibre pad.

Some loosened soil is collected during the cleaning process; remaining encapsulated residues are designed to be picked up during later routine vacuuming, once the carpet is dry. I always explain this to customers, because it's different from seeing dirty water extracted from the carpet.

Encapsulation is particularly useful for many regularly maintained carpets and offices wanting minimal disruption. For heavily soiled carpets, I may recommend hot-water extraction, including truck-mounted cleaning when appropriate.

I don't believe one method is always best for every carpet.

Furniture cleaning starts with understanding the fabric

Lounges and chairs collect food and drink spills, body oils, pet accidents and everyday soiling—often in the same high-use areas.

Where the fabric and its care instructions permit it, extraction is generally my preferred cleaning method. For some moisture-sensitive materials, I may use a gentler, lower-moisture approach instead.

I inspect the fabric, ask what products have been used before and, when necessary, test a suitable product in an inconspicuous area.

Some expensive or imported upholstery isn't suitable for wet cleaning at all. In those cases, I take the manufacturer's instructions seriously and won't risk damage just to promise a better-looking stain.

For a quote, a photograph of the furniture is often the most helpful starting point—especially when the lounge has removable cushions that need cleaning on both sides.

Real work, realistic expectations

The result matters — but so does honest advice

One of the things experience teaches you is that not all stains behave the same way. I assess what I believe can be improved, and sometimes recommend replacing an old or badly deteriorated mattress rather than spending money on cleaning.

I've handled difficult jobs where changing the usual treatment sequence made a real difference. I've also encountered stains that didn't disappear completely, despite the item being cleaner overall. If you contact me afterwards with a concern, I'll listen and consider whether further treatment could help; on some occasions I've returned at no extra cost.

These are before-and-after photographs supplied from the same job. The appearance shows a noticeable improvement; angles and lighting vary somewhat, and results on other mattresses will differ.

Blood stains: sooner is usually better

I've found that timing, mattress material and previous cleaning attempts can all affect blood-stain removal. Fresh stains generally respond more readily than older ones.

This short video shows a real stain visibly lightening as I apply a treatment. It's one example of the process, rather than a promise that every blood stain can be removed.

Removing visible blood staining does not, by itself, establish that a mattress is fully decontaminated or suitable for reuse following significant contamination.

“I'd rather give you an honest assessment before cleaning than promise a result the fabric or stain won't allow.”
Personal service across Melbourne

When you contact my business, you deal directly with me

When you call, text or WhatsApp Mattress Cleaning Melbourne, you're speaking with me. I discuss the problem, provide the quote and personally carry out the usual cleaning jobs. I've occasionally brought in help for large commercial work, but mine is predominantly a one-person business.

I have customers who've continued using my services for many years, including some who booked me at the beginning. I believe they come back because they know my approach, value clear communication and trust me to work carefully in their homes.

I also work with landlords, tenants, accommodation providers, aged-care facilities, educational institutions and commercial premises, including offices needing low-moisture carpet cleaning.

How I quote and book jobs

Mattresses: I normally need to know the location, mattress construction and whether one or both sides need cleaning.

Carpets: room sizes, condition and photos of problem areas can help me quote more accurately.

Furniture: send a photograph showing the sofa or chair and any removable cushions.

I generally try to honour my quote if I've underestimated a little. If a job involves substantially more work than expected, I discuss and agree on any revised price before continuing.

Based in the north. Working across greater Melbourne.

My business has always been based in Melbourne's northern suburbs, but I travel north, south, east and west. Travel distance can affect the quote, especially for jobs far from my starting point. If I have an appointment available, I'm happy to consider urgent jobs across Melbourne.

Things customers ask me

Answers based on my day-to-day cleaning experience

Can you remove old urine stains from a mattress?

Sometimes I can achieve a major improvement, but it depends on how old the stain is, how far it has penetrated, the mattress material and what products have previously been applied. I discuss realistic expectations before starting.

Can you clean a mattress today so it can be slept on tonight?

Same-day appointments are sometimes possible. I prefer early appointments for urgent jobs because the mattress needs time to dry. Whether it will be thoroughly dry that evening depends on the mattress and drying conditions, so I can't guarantee it.

Can I ask for cleaning without fragrances or optional sanitising products?

Yes, where a suitable process is possible for the item and the cleaning required. I can explain the cleaning choices, product instructions and limitations before we begin.

What happens to dirt during encapsulation carpet cleaning?

First I remove as much dry soil as possible by thorough vacuuming. During low-moisture cleaning, the pad collects loosened material, and remaining encapsulated residue is designed to be vacuumed up after the carpet has dried during subsequent regular vacuuming.

Can you clean my carpet, lounge and mattress in one visit?

Yes, I offer all three services and can arrange a combined appointment when practical. Let me know what needs cleaning so I can allow enough time and give you an accurate quote.

Do you treat bed bug infestations?

No. Bed bugs require a pest-control assessment and treatment plan. My mattress hygiene work focuses on professional cleaning, dust removal, stain treatment and optional dust-mite products, not bed bug extermination.

What if I'm unhappy with the result?

Please contact me directly so I can understand your concern. Some stains are permanent and I don't offer an unconditional satisfaction guarantee, but I've returned to jobs without charging again where I believed further treatment could make a difference.
